Practices

How to actually work with scripture. The files in this folder are operational, not theoretical — each prescribes a concrete daily discipline.

The practices

FileWhat it covers
memorization-priority.mdWhat to memorize first. Tier 1 (~30 verses), Tier 2 (~40 more), Tier 3 (whole texts). The irreducible kernel = 184 verses.
memorization-methods.mdHow to memorize so it sticks. 15 techniques ranked by leverage. Acceleration paths to 2-3+ verses/day sustainable.
chanting-and-singing.mdThe practice of vocal scripture. Gann’s specific JEHOVAH chant + biblical commands on singing + Psalm-headings glossary + Song of Solomon.
praying-scripture.mdThe lens of praying for what scripture identifies as worth asking. Three categories: command-as-petition, promise-as-confidence, scripture’s-own-prayers.
praying-for-humility.mdSpecific daily cycle for praying against pride: Psalm 131 + Psalm 51:10-17 + Psalm 36:11. The seven Penitential Psalms (extended cycle). The Jesus Prayer as irreducible kernel.

The practices integrated

These are not separate disciplines. They are facets of one practice:

A full daily rhythm using all of them:

  1. Morning — read the day’s concordance key word; identify 1-2 verses to memorize; chant the day’s Psalm; pray the verses for those you love
  2. Noon — brief JEHOVAH chant; mid-day Psalm; pray for one specific person using a scripture promise
  3. Evening — review the memorized text; chant for sleep; pray the Lord’s Prayer slowly

Reading order

If new to this work:

  1. praying-scripture.md first — orients the whole practice
  2. memorization-priority.md — what to start with
  3. memorization-methods.md — how to do it
  4. chanting-and-singing.md — the vocal layer
